Brittany Frishman and Khloe have been working closely with Hayley Derryberry, owner of Derryberry and a proud mother herself, to create an event that not only celebrates motherhood and breastfeeding but also fosters meaningful connections within our community. The result was the much-anticipated "Boobs and Brunch" event—a beautiful gathering where mothers came together to share their experiences, support one another, and celebrate the joys and challenges of motherhood. Hayley Derryberry went above and beyond by catering a special menu designed with mothers in mind. Attendees enjoyed delicious crepes, breast-shaped cupcakes, and refreshing beverages, all thoughtfully prepared to make the event both fun and memorable. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, creating the perfect environment for mothers to relax, connect, and feel supported.
Adding to the excitement, the Allen County Health Department generously provided two giveaway baskets filled with pampering items and essential resources for breastfeeding. These baskets were a special treat for expectant mothers, offering them the support they need as they embark on their breastfeeding journeys. The Boobs and Brunch event was more than just a social gathering; it was an empowering experience. Mothers shared their birth stories, discussed the ups and downs of breastfeeding, and exchanged valuable advice. The connections made at this event were powerful, reminding us all of the strength and resilience of our community.
The Importance of Normalizing Breastfeeding and Community Events

1. Support for Mothers: Breastfeeding can be challenging, especially without a support system. By normalizing breastfeeding, we create a community where mothers feel comfortable and supported in their choices.
2. Health Benefits: Breastfeeding offers numerous health benefits for both mother and child. Encouraging and supporting breastfeeding can lead to healthier outcomes for families.
3. Reducing Stigma: Unfortunately, there is still a negative stigma surrounding breastfeeding in public. By hosting events like Boobs and Brunch, we work to break down these barriers and create an environment where breastfeeding is seen as natural and accepted.
4. Building Community: Events like Boobs and Brunch bring people together, fostering a sense of community and connection. These connections are crucial for mothers, who often feel isolated during the postpartum period.
5. Education and Resources: Community events provide an opportunity to share valuable information and resources with mothers. Whether it's tips on breastfeeding, advice on motherhood, or simply offering a listening ear, these events are essential for education and support.
We are incredibly proud of the success of the Boobs and Brunch event and the positive impact it had on our community. The conversations, connections, and support shared during this event were truly inspiring. We hope to host more events in the future, continuing our mission to empower mothers, normalize breastfeeding, and build a stronger, more connected community.
