From a young age, my grandma instilled in me the belief that finding a dime all by itself was a sign of luck—a little reminder from God that everything would be okay and that He was watching over us. It was a comforting notion that stayed with me throughout my life.
Whenever I found myself struggling, encountering a lone dime would warm my heart. It was as if God was sending me a personal message, a gentle reassurance that I wasn't alone and that better days were ahead.
But as time went on, my faith wavered. Despite my prayers and pleas, I couldn't seem to feel the comforting presence of God as I once did. I grappled with feelings of disappointment, anger, and confusion, struggling to reconcile my faith with the challenges I faced.
Today was particularly tough. I received news of failing my nursing final, leaving me feeling defeated and alone with my thoughts. The weight of responsibilities and uncertainties pressed down on me, amplifying my worries about the future and longing for the presence of my grandma, who had always been a source of comfort and love.
Yet, amidst the turmoil, a small sign of hope emerged. In our new, sparsely furnished house, I found a dime all by itself on the stairs—a reminder of my grandma's wisdom and God's unwavering presence. And just when I needed it most, a text from a dear friend arrived, urging me to have faith in God.
In that moment, I realized that even in the midst of chaos and despair, there are signs of hope and comfort if we open our hearts to them. While I may not know what the future holds, for tonight, I can stop crying, take solace in the kindness of loved ones, and have faith that God is in control.
Finding that dime was more than just luck—it was a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is light, and even in our deepest doubts, there is faith. And for that, I am grateful.
